Developed for surgeons, both experienced and inexperienced in bariatric surgery, who want to start this technique in an academic manner. This type of technique was made possible thanks to the participation of four specialists from the Esophagus and Stomach Service of Almenara Hospital, who shared all their knowledge so that the trainees can develop a safe technique for the patient and begin a structured and safe learning curve.

Surgeries were performed on experimental animals, always respecting their rights, and were constantly monitored by a veterinary anesthesiologist and their assistants. The scheduled surgeries included gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and various manual anastomoses. Knowledge and the use of advanced energy technologies such as Ligasure and Sonicision were also taught, thanks to the support and participation of MEDTRONIC, who also demonstrated the benefits of their AI-powered stapler, SIGNIA, which is an intelligent stapler and a helpful tool for performing these types of surgeries. The set objectives were successfully achieved by both the instructors and the trainees.

At LAOS, we aim for the learning curve of every surgeon in the art of surgery, regardless of the technique or specialty they want to pursue or are already practicing, to be safe and academically guided by experts. CEPCEA and the International School of Veterinary Surgery are immensely grateful for the support provided by MEDTRONIC, who played a significant role in providing instrumentation and modern technology, thereby offering valuable theoretical and practical knowledge to all trainees. We would also like to express our special gratitude to all the instructors for their patience and teachings, as well as to the participants for making this great event possible.
