LAOS Institute is created with the mission of improving surgical skills of human and veterinary specialists in different types of interventions, whether open or laparoscopic surgery. We teach from the principles of the art of surgery to advanced interventions, using a unique academic methodology that is personalized to the level of expectations of today's surgeons, ensuring the experience gained during the course you choose. Dr. Carlos Dediós La Madrid
Dr. Carlos is the CEO and founder of the International Institute of Laparoscopic Surgery (IICL), a Fellow in Minimally Invasive Surgery (FMAS) in the USA, a coach in Laparoscopic Surgery, and a medical surgeon with over 14 years of experience in minimally invasive simulation. He received training in FLS (Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery) at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield Massachusetts, USA in 2009. He also has experience in simulation in FES (Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery) and robotic surgery in Da Vinci in the same year, with a passion for minimally invasive techniques and simulation that he has continued to develop over the years.
Dr. Carlos is an active member of the Peruvian Society of Endoscopic Surgery (SPCE), an active member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the Peruvian Association of Hernias (APH) due to his contribution and experience in training at different levels of the medical career, including residents, specialists, and sub-specialists in various surgical areas such as general surgery, gynecology, urology, pediatric surgery, oncological surgery, head and neck surgery, among others. He has trained over 1750 individuals in classrooms as well as national and international courses and conferences, always promoting and improving laparoscopic skills and achieving objectives.
He is certified in FLS by SAGES and the ACS (American College of Surgeons). Dr. Carlos's passion, demand, ability for teaching and continuous updating has led him to be a faculty member for great brands such as Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic, for example, and to participate in courses for national and international trainers. He has vast experience in virtual synchronous and asynchronous teaching, both nationally and internationally, for more than 7 years.
Dr. Carlos is a teacher and head of the Simulation Laboratory at CEPCEA Training Center - Peru, creator, and promoter of the TIPS (Training, Innovation and Proctoring in Surgery) Program training system. He is passionate about research and the development of TIPS that allow and help each of his trainees to face and solve any problem that may arise during and after surgery in a safer, faster, and more confident way, always promoting and instilling HELA (Humility, continuous Training, knowing your Limits, and knowing when to Ask for Help) thinking first and foremost about the health and well-being of patients.

Dr Maykel Povea Mora
MDVM, MSc, MANZCVS (Small Animal Surgery), MRCVS, F.MAS (Fellow In Minimal Access Surgery)
CEO and founder of the International School of Veterinary Surgery, The Veterinary Institute of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, and Dr. Maykel Povea Referral Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Povea is one of the renowned Latin American and global pioneers in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery and has been an active member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons of Great Britain (RCVS) since 2008. Dr. Povea holds a Master of Science in Genetic Manipulation and Molecular Cellular Biology from the University of Sussex and is certified in Small Animal Surgery (MANZCVS - SAS) by the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, being an accredited mentor for the specialty since 2017. Dr. Povea is a Fellow in Minimal Access Surgery (F.MAS) by the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, Faculty of Human Medicine at the University of South Florida, USA, and an active member of the Latin American Society of Veterinary Endoscopy and the Veterinary Endoscopy Society in the USA.
With over 19 years of surgical experience, his remarkable journey spanning more than two decades in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery has taken him around the world, from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Latin America, USA, Hong Kong, Qatar, and finally Lima, Peru. He has extensive expertise in handling complex surgical cases and minimally invasive surgeries with a notable success rate, earning him recognition as the man for challenging missions.
Passion, dedication, and integrity have merged in Dr. Maykel to provide excellent surgical service that has saved a tremendous number of patients. He transmits his passion and dedication to his students throughout Latin America. Committed to surgical education, Dr. Povea has successfully conducted numerous courses and workshops on traditional and laparoscopic veterinary surgery in Peru, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Cuba, and Central America. In addition, Dr. Maykel is a Master's degree professor at various Latin American universities, Full Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine, Clinical Mention, and Surgery at the Catholic University of Cuenca, Ecuador, as well as a regular keynote speaker at different international conferences. He has also published several articles related to open and minimally invasive surgery.
In addition to the aforementioned associations, Dr. Maykel is an active member of the Veterinary Cardiovascular Society in the United Kingdom, the American Society of Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgery (SVSTS), and the Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncology.
